Studio
Tristana Ashtanga Yoga is more than just a yoga studio – it is a place where community and practice go hand in hand. Our shala is a home for people seeking depth, meaning, and connection – with themselves, with the tradition of Ashtanga yoga, and with others walking the same path.
Here we believe that yoga is not only a physical exercise, but a process of transformation that unfolds step by step, with dedication, patience, and support. On the mat, we learn to be both humble and courageous – to challenge ourselves, to explore our limits, and to cultivate balance from the inside out.
Tristana first opened its doors in 2017, and a year later we settled in the heart of Sofia – at 54 Iskar Street. Since then, our space has grown into a living, breathing community – a place where people not only practice but also create friendships, share their journeys, support each other through challenges, and celebrate victories together.
The founder and main teacher of the Mysore program is Zornitsa Zaykova.
“We created our beloved shala with much love, to offer Sofia a space fully dedicated to the traditional teaching of Ashtanga yoga. For me, Ashtanga is a method with the power to transform – not only the body but also the way we live and connect with the world. What matters most is that we do not walk this path alone – we are a community.”
In the daily Mysore classes, practitioners develop their personal practice with the guidance and support of the teacher. This unique approach allows everyone to progress at their own pace while receiving individual adjustments and attention. It is a method that builds trust and respect between student and teacher – the very heart of the tradition.
Why Mysore?
Because this style is accessible to everyone! You can start without any prior experience – the teacher will guide you through the first steps and gradually expand your sequence. The practice grows together with you, adapting to your possibilities, limitations, and needs. It is the most natural way to build a sustainable and meaningful yoga practice.
We believe in the words of our teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois:
“Anyone can practice. Young man can practice. Old man can practice. Very old man can practice. Man who is sick, he can practice. Man who doesn’t have strength can practice. Except lazy people; lazy people can’t practice Ashtanga yoga.”
Everyone is welcome at Tristana – regardless of experience, age, or physical condition. If you have the willingness and openness to try, in our shala you will find support, warmth, and a community to share the journey with.
